Candle Care Instructions

We want your Stella Elaine Luxe Candles to fill your space with beautiful aromatic notes that inspire relaxation and creativity and elicit joyful memories. Here are some great tips to care for your candles safely and maximize your scent.

1. When lighting for the first time burn until wax melts across entire surface to the sides of vessel (this prevents tunneling, and creates an even burn for the duration of the candle’s ‘life’) This may take up to 2-4 hours.

2. Trim wick to ¼ of an inch before each burn to promote an even burn, steady flame and limit mushrooming and soot of the wick.

3. To preserve the fragrance and for safety reasons, do not burn your candle more than 4 hours at a time.

4. Trim the candle wick after each burn. This is very important to prevent the candles from smoking on the next burn or from burning the sides of the glass. The trimming recommendation is 1/4th to 1/8th of an inch each time. Try to use high quality wick trimmers that will cut and remove the excess wick cleanly.

5. If soot ever forms on the inside of the vessel, extinguish candle, wait for it to cool, then wipe with a clean damp cloth. Trim wick and relight.

6. Please keep the wax pool free of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times. Burn on an even surface.

7. Extinguish candle with a wick dipper or snuffer by dipping the wick in melted wax and then straighten wick to prevent smoking and also prevent hot wax from splattering. Avoid blowing out.

8. Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers, or the flame becomes too high. These signs indicate the candle is not burning properly and the flame isn't controlled. Let the candle cool, trim the wick, then check for drafts before re-lighting.

9. To maximize scent throw, burn in desired space for 30 mins with the door closed. Open windows and doors will weaken scent.

10. Always store your candles in a cool, dark and dry place.  Avoid placing your candles where they will be directly exposed to sunlight or harsh indoor lighting.

11. Do not burn your candle all the way down.  Always leave at least ½ inch of non-molten wax at the bottom.

12. Always burn candle within sight

13. Please wait 2 weeks for candle to fully cure before lighting. If your candle was recently made, there will be a date on your candle to indicate when you can burn it. The longer a soy based candle can cure the better the scent.

14. Wood wick candles cause wax discoloration due to tannins in wood reacting to the warmth of the heat. Other reasons include:

The wood wick needs trimming.

If burnt parts get into the candle, they can interfere with the flame, causing soot or smoke to produce.

We at Stella Elaine Luxe can appreciate infusing scents into your space flame free. These care instructions serve to help you safely use your wickless scent options.

1. Place your wax melts or wickless candle in a wax warmer or on a burner specifically designed for melting wax. Do not add water to the wax.

2. Place your wax melt into the wax warmer's dish or tray, or sit your wickless candle on the wax warmer ensuring it doesn't overflow.

3. Avoid leaving the wax warmer on for extended periods. It is recommended to use it for a maximum of 3-4 hours at a time.

4. You can reuse your wax melt or wickless candle until the scent has faded. Once the scent has dissipated, remove the wax residue and replace it with a new wax melt or wickless candle.

5. To remove solidified wax from the warmer, briefly turn on the warmer for less than a minute until the bottom surface of the wax softens. This will make it easier to pull out the wax. Consider purchasing disposable wax melt liners for even easier clean up.

6. Allow the wax warmer to cool down before handling or adding more wax melts or before removing the candle container.

7. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
